In order to evaluate the situation of leisure time of university students
throughout the country, it was necessary to study the avaiablity of facilities,
organization, programs, and budget systems of intramural activities of the country's
universities.
In this connection, a questionaire was prepared and dispatched to 38
governmental universities all over the country, including 27 combined open and tied
questions. 33 (87%) of these universities responded to the questionaire and the
received data were analyzed and computed by EPl5 software.
The result of this research showed that 78% of the universities has sport
facilities 48.5% has stadiums, 39.4% has a football field, 57.5% has an open
volleyball field, 69.7% has open basketball court, and 45.4% has a tennis court.
34% of the total of universities' students declared that facilities are
insufficient and 18.9% reported that facilities are sufficient. The results show a
significant difference (a= 0.01) between the concept of the students on leisure time
facilities and their practice and usage of intramural facilities of the universities. The
students declared that the third reason they do not exercise is that Facilities are

insufficient. 12% of the intramural organizations were controlled as an
adminstration and 57.6% were organized as a unit. 36/3% of the intramural
programs were controlled directly by deputy manager of education and students. or
553 personnels involved in intramural section of 33 universitie which have been
studied, 416 personnel were involved in sports and 137 personnel were involved in
other intramural programs, which shows an extension of sport activities in
interamural programs of the universities. The students proposed that in order to
extend the intramural programs of the universities they should employ more
specialists, dedicated personnels as well as allocation of more budget and facilitate
the availability of the units in addition to the encouragement of participation of the
students in intramural programs.
