Abstract

In this study the effects of static and ballistic stretching exercises on (DOMS) delayed onset muscle sorenos and increased level of creatin kinase (CK) were
campared. The subjects were 20 university male students who were selected randomly and were divided int') two groups of static and ballistic stretching. All
subjects performed 3 sets of 25 stretching exercises.
The only difference found between these two groups was that in every
exercises (stretches) the static group held stm for 40 seconds however the ballistic group performed the stretches in a bouncing movement. To analyze the mean values
measures on delayed DOMS, CK, isometric strength of lower extremities and range of motion (ROM) of the hip joint factorial analysis of variance (2X4) was used.
(ANOVA)
Te findings of this study indicate that regarding rising level of DOMS and CK and the reduction of the isometric strength of the lower extermities following
these unaccustommed exercises similar sataes are observed for both static and
ballistic groups. In addition significant elevation of DOMS was higher in ballistic groups to static ones.
