Abstract

The aim of the present study is to analyse and compare body composition, muscular strength, V02 max and anaerobic purpose, 15 elite weightlifters and nonathletes. For this pupose, 15 elite weightlifters (average age of 24.6±3.24) and 15 nonathletes (average age of 22.46 ±2.64) were selected voluntarily. Eight factors such as hight, weight, BF%, muscular strength of lower extremities, lower back and shoulder girdle, anaerobic power and V02 max were measured. For the purpose of statistical analysis. T test was used. Correlation among factors were calculated. Using pearson product moment correlation coefficient. Results shwed that strength of lower extremities, lower back muscles, shoulder girdle and anaerobic power has significant difference between elite weight lifters and non-athletes. In BF% and 1/02 max, there is no significatn difference. There was also a significant correlation between BF% and VO2 max (r = - 0.67), and BF% and anaerobic power (r = - 0.93). We can also say that weightlifting training is effective to increase strength and anaerobic power and is invalid to change BF% and VU2 max.
